Dasein students' drama performance

Drama performance remains an important educational tool to help students identify themselves - know their own strengths and weaknesses as a human. Through acting out, they'll have a chance to understand a role, a character, to be precise, a personality. They must do an impression of the person they deem ideal for the show. Acting skills help students learn to express themselves in a contrived context. For example, they learn to express sadness or empathy when someone's confiding in them. They also learn to show anger when put in hot water. After all, communication needs expression of  emotion, rather than spoken words.

The following videos demonstrate works of students from Dasein, who tried to act out a person they made up for a story.

This candidate, LaiYee impersonates a ghost who's longing for her boyfriend. However, the boyfriend suffers from amnesia (loss of memory) and he doesn't even know that LaiYee is dead. Despite this, they cross paths in real life until her boyfriend smells a rat....

When facial expressions are not shown, the audience will rely on the paralanguage - how you say something. Therefore, students must also be able to manipulate their voices appropriately so that the audience could feel what they're experiencing. Hence, through audio dramas they'll learn the skills to express themselves in the right tone.

This audio drama enacted by ChorngRay, Jensen, Anson, JiaWei and QiJing shows the creativity of them connecting three stories in a single audio drama show. Sound effects play a vital role to give the vibe. The story is short and sweet and the actors/actresses portray a horror drama in a realistic way.
The second drama presented by ZheChing, YuhNi, ZiXin, YiNing and KeanSheng successfully demonstrates human nature: selfishness and revenge. This drama could give us the vibe as though we are in that deadly treasure hunt.
